Our Class Areas
Our classroom has different areas of learning in line with the Foundation Phase. Arranging the classroom in such a way allows the children to become increasingly independent learners. The children have a variety of Focussed Tasks, working in small groups with the teacher to learn new skills, etc. which they are then able to transfer independently into all the classroom areas.
Maths Area
The maths area is full of lots of equipment to help develop mathematical skills. The children can weigh, measure, add, subtract, create patterns, use clocks and many other activities independently.
Writing Area
The children are able to use all their phonic knowledge taught in Read, Write, Inc. sessions to create their own pieces of writing, it may be a letter, a story or even a greeting card for a special occasion!
Reading Area
There are many books in the Reading Area for the children to enjoy. They can also listen to stories using the listening centre.
Creative Area
Our Creative Area is very popular! The children enjoy choosing a variety of materials to make models, jewellery, pictures, etc.
Our ‘Cwtch’
We have made a ‘cwtch’ for the children to practise all their Welsh words and phrases.
Outdoor Area
The children are able to use the outdoor area everyday. There are many activities for the children to complete outside.
